Timber was used in selected areas as a light weight, decorative wall cladding system over painted FC sheet.... The design intent was to incorporate a cost effective product which provided visual interest, warmth and residential identity, which at the same time complimented the controlled linear form and clean lines of the building. As the house is in a low category bush fire zone, the material also had to satisfy the relevant Bushfire Attack Levels (BAL). The Concept Click timber batten system provided a distinctive feature timber solution which responded to the design intent as follows:

  • The simple aluminium rail and timber slat system was pre-cut on site and was therefore easy to install and relatively cost effective.
  • The linear timber slats, concealed fixings and resolution of corner details delivered a sophisticated finish and warm character.
  • The availability and combination of timber species allowed compliance with specific BAL ratings.
